This Sunday, June 24 (7pm-11), will be a special presentation of music at Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse.  I will be joined by long-time co-conspirators Derek Douget, Peter Harris and Ocie Davis as we back up singer, song-writer, sister Kimberley Longstreth and her project “a Kind of Lovechild.”

The core group is not-so-slowly approaching 20 years of performing together!  YIKES!  From the very beginning, we were studying a collection of modern New Orleans tunes that were compiled by Harold Battiste which he called the Silverbook.   Kimberley penned beautiful lyrics to many of these tunes, and in 2006 produced a recording of these songs – sung by her and played by her favorite musicians (US) !

Sunday promises a very special night of very special music…I know I’m going to be a happy man, playing great songs with my friends and family.  All we need is YOU.
